This past Saturday was a busy one. Our son, Justin, received the Sacrament of Confirmation at our home parish of St. Catherine here in Tulsa. The picture here at the left is of my wife Maria, Justin, Bishop Edward Slattery, and me. We are very proud of Justin and we're thankful to see him continuing to grow in his Catholic faith. The other pictures here are of Justin and his friend Stephen (in red shirt), and also of Justin with his Godfather, Richard.
After the Confirmation Mass, Maria and I bolted over to the parish of St. Bernard of Clairveux to sing in a concert of original compositions by area church musicians and composers. Featured on this concert was Maria's setting of a lenten mass entitled "The Shepherd's Mass". It is a mass setting based upon Marty Haugen's familiar song "Shepherd Me, O God". I think she did an outstanding job with it.
The concert also featured a percussion ensemble from Jenks conducted by my friend and fellow Jenks director, Kale W. The group performed one of Kale's arrangements of 'Holy is His Name' that also involved the 50+ voice choir. I thought the percussionists played GREAT!
